Il Sub-IB è un introducing broker reclutato da un altro IB (il master IB) anziché direttamente dal broker, all'interno di una struttura multi-livello.

Un Sub-IB (Sub-Introducing Broker) è un partner portato in un programma di brokerage da un introducing broker esistente, non dal broker stesso. Il concetto è l'equivalente specifico del Forex di un sub-affiliato nel marketing di affiliazione generale. Nelle reti IB multi-livello, il Sub-IB referenzia clienti al broker, ma la sua relazione e il flusso di commissioni sono gestiti attraverso l'IB che lo ha reclutato. Queste gerarchie poggiano su strutture di multi-tier commission.
Dal punto di vista del broker, i Sub-IB espandono la rete di partner senza reclutamento diretto aggiuntivo. Dal punto di vista del master IB, i Sub-IB generano commissioni a valle, in genere una quota dei guadagni del Sub-IB o un override separato sul volume referenziato dal Sub-IB. L'attività deve rispettare il quadro Consob/ESMA.
